CEO of Stathis Enterprises and driver, Sam Stathis, scores first lifetime driving win with Celebrity Artemis, a 4-year-old horse created out of an Embryo transfer.
New York, NY – Sam Stathis, CEO and Founder of Stathis Enterprises and World Chariot Racing Federation, added another groundbreaking milestone to his numerous achievements on April 5th at Pompano Park Raceway. The serial entrepreneur and harness racing enthusiast scored his first ever lifetime racing win with Celebrity Artemis, a four year old horse created out of an Embryo transfer.
This is a special win for Sam and especially the winning horse, Celebrity Artemis, who was very much underestimated by most brokers and trainers because of its breed. During the Embryo transfer process, if embryos are placed in a smaller recipient mare, the result is often a smaller sized foal; for this reason, bidders fear that the horses will be too small to race at a competitive level.
At a yearly auction in 2006, Celebrity Artemis scared many bidders away because she is an Embryo transfer and bidders didn’t think she’d have the fortitude to be a winning horse. However, Sam took a chance against all odds and advice from every broker, trainer and friend telling him the horse was too small to race and would never beat anyone. Sam went ahead to purchase the Embryo transfer breed and went on to bring home his first lifetime win with the much-disputed horse, Celebrity Artemis.
“Although unanimously I was advised she was too small, and would never beat anyone, and her babies would be too small, I knew differently and I had a good feeling about her. Whenever I get one of those feelings,I act decisively, against better advice and it almost always works out for me and boy was I right,” said Sam Stathis.
