Networking 101

Networking 101

Are you looking to expand your network but don’t think you have time to do it? Busy with classes, working, or interning? Eventsy is here to remind you that not all opportunities need to come from a conference room! With September in full swing, here are some “back to school” networking basics to help successfully integrate networking into your everyday life:

1. Every Day Commute

Living and working in New York City, most of us have a public transit commute whether it be by bus, subway or train. Engage the people around you. You will be surrounded with like-minded, determined professionals who may be able to offer you a tip for success.

2. Social Media

Post the things you enjoy on your social media accounts. Have a new outfit you couldn’t wait to wear? Post it! Did you have an awesome meal at a local restaurant during your lunch break? Share it! Did you overhear someone saying something truly inspiring? Tweet it! Don’t forget to add hashtags – just another way to network and connect with others. Follow Eventsy on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook for some simple examples on how to use social media to grow your network.

3. Down Time

Everyone enjoys an evening of relaxation after a busy day of work but going out requires planning – just one more thing for you to do. Allow Eventsy to do the work and plan your nights out for you with our extensive monthly calendar filled with events at breathtaking venues throughout the city. We are here so you can relax, enjoy a drink, and network among other professionals and like-minded individuals. Don’t forget to collect business cards in order to carry your connections and conversations forward after the event! (And maybe win a great sponsor prize or two…)

4. Working Out

Do you work out on a regular basis? Celebrity fitness trainer Thomas Johnson makes networking easy during our weekly Body Sculpt Boot Camp. Workout classes and a gym setting are perfect places to network. Use your common interest to strike up a conversation with the people around you. You never know what a simple conversation could lead to.

Everyone has their own everyday routine but don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and grow as a person and professional. Everyday there is an opportunity to connect with someone new – don’t let a day go to waste.
