Once again, Eventsy invites you to treat your taste buds to the delicious wines offered by our friends at Wine NY and enjoy a complimentary discount as Eventsy members.
In 1998 Ntsiki Biyela, who grew up in the KwaZulu Natal Township of South Africa,  tasted wine for the first time. “It was the most horrible thing I had ever tasted,” she said. But things changed quickly. South African Airways awarded her a scholarship to study viticulture and oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. “Following graduation in 2004, she secured a job as a junior winemaker at Stellekaya, a boutique winery in Stellenbosch, and a wine legend was born: Biyela officially became South Africa’s first black female winemaker. Biyela said that she was surprised at the ‘lack of diversity in the wine industry’ but that didn’t stop her from beginning to make a name for herself in the local industry and excelling at making wine.” (http://bit.ly/2qxGwFf). In 2009 she was named South Africa’s Woman Winemaker of the Year.

Wine Lovers of NYC is excited to have Ntsiki as our special guest on June 18. She will offer us the chance to taste 8 of her wines, including a wine that is a joint effort with Helen Keplinger of Napa Valley, Food & Wine Magazine’s 2012 Winemaker of the Year.
